Omani food exhibition, Food and Hospitality Oman organised by Omanexpo, will host the seventh Oman Chef’s Competition this year in association with Oman Chefs Guild (OGC).
Taking place from 20 – 22 September at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, the competition consists of five categories.
These are: Three Tier Wedding Cake, Tapas, Petit Four, Five Course Plated Gourmet Dinner and the Mystery Basket Challenge, a live cooking challenge being featured for the first time.
For the Mystery Basket Challenge participants will be required to prepare a three-course meal within a stipulated time.
Chef Pascal Etienne, president of the OCG, commented: “We are very proud to bring in once again the Oman Chef’s Competition which is now on its seventh year. Competition is an important part of education. OGC together with Omanexpo is proud to have built the reputation for hosting the industry’s culinary contest.
“The Oman Chef’s Competition rules and judging criteria are based on World Chef Association and American Culinary Federation standards. A jury of senior chefs from the industry will judge the competition.”
The competition is open to all professional chefs from hotels, restaurants, catering companies and bakeries.
Interested participants must register a team at the National Hospitality Institute (NHI), Wadi Kabeer or email businesscentre@nhioman.com before 14 September 2016. Registration is on a first come first serve basis.

“It is a celebration of the talented chefs across the country and consumers are welcome to attend and witness in person how the chefs demonstrate their expertise under one roof.”
