Meet Marwa Al Omami, assistant marketing manager at Fairmont Fujairah Beach
Describe your first ever role in the hotel industry? This would be my first role, as Assistant Marketing Manager at Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort.
Who has inspired you most in your career? My mother. She lives and breathes passion and tenacity.
How do you view the hotel scene in the region? The playing field has changed. The hotel scene has never been more diverse or competitive.
What is the biggest challenge of your role? Coming up with creative ways to market a luxury product in such a competitive market is a tough challenge, particularly as there is tremendous accountability for marketing hoteliers to ensure that marketing spend translates into growth and profitability for the property. It’s an ongoing challenge but an even more interesting one when you’re driven by competition.
What is your favourite aspect of your role? Cementing the positioning of a new luxury product.
If you could work in any hotel in the world (apart from the one you work in), which would it be? The Plaza Hotel New York and Raffles Hotel Singapore.
What tip would you share with new staff starting out in the F&B industry in the Middle East? Understand your product’s unique selling points.
