There’s going to be an uphill task at the Media One Hotel next month, or an upstairs task to be precise.
The Vertical Race, which will see runners racing up the stairs, will be held at the Media City based hotel for the third year in a row on 18 February.
“This year we are expecting even more runners to take up the challenge now we are offering a cash prize to the winner of the course record,” said Felix Hartmann, operations director at Media One Hotel. “Again our Media One Team is in training and is looking forward to preparing and participating in the race. I am the coach, and though they definitely need a little more practice at the moment, we will soon be challenging some of our competitors!”
The race itself starts on the ground level with runners heading through the car park up to parking level seven; a distance of approximately one km before reaching the stairs, of which there are more than 700.

The runners will then run all the way up to level 42 where the finishing line is waiting for them – as well of prizes to the value of AED 50,000 for the top three men and top three men to finish the race.
There will also be prizes for anyone who manages to beat the exisiting record.
All eyes will be on Piotr “Showtime” Loboodzinski, the reigning tower running world champion, who will be among the entrants.
Pre-registration is required for the event, anyone interested is advised to log onto http://bit.ly/M1Run2015 for further details.
The race for individuals begins at 10am. Hartmann has also called for corporate companies to come forward to take on their rivals at the event.
