Minor Hotels has signed a management agreement with Safari International Group for a new Avani hotel to be developed in Muscat, Oman.
The 250-key Avani Muscat Hotel is scheduled to open in mid-2020.
Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotels, said: “Bringing Avani to Oman is a key component of our strategic expansion plans and we are delighted to be partnering with Safari International Group to develop this exciting new addition to Muscat’s hotel scene.
“Seeb is already a key residential area in Muscat, which as the city grows westwards will become a significant hub and we are confident Avani will represent a great fit in this fast developing neighbourhood.”
Ismail Al-Tubi, owner of Safari International Group, said:“On the occasion of the Second World Tourism and Cultural Conference in Muscat the agreements of the Avani Muscat were executed by Safari International Group. The Sultanate of Oman is witnessing a major growth in the tourism sector.
“Located adjacent to the Mall of Araimi Boulevard in a lively commercial area, the new Avani will be the gateway to the vital entertainment and tourism sector that the country needs, especially with the opening of the new Muscat International Airport, which is expected to receive more than 12 million passengers a year.”
Minor Hotels currently operates 13 properties in the Middle East across four of its brands – Anantara, Avani, Tivoli and Oaks – and has a further strong pipeline in the region across these four brands.
In 2018 Avani will launch in North Africa with the opening of Avani Les Berges du Lac Tunis Suites in the Tunisian capital, with further pipeline properties announced in 2017 including both Mauritius and the Maldives.
