Expo City Dubai, in collaboration with TGP International, has unveiled the region’s first Festival of Cake, a five-day celebration running from 28 November to 2 December as part of Al Wasl Season.
A true sugar rush of entertainment, Al Wasl Plaza will transform into a 110,000 sqft playground of cakes, coffee, creativity and live entertainment, featuring 100-plus shows, 25 chefs, 30 dessert brands and the UAE’s first official CAKE PICNIC™.
A highlight of the programme, the global CAKE PICNIC™ arrives in Dubai for its Middle East debut and final stop of its international tour. Guests are invited to bring their own creations and join a joyful outdoor gathering celebrating the universal love of cake.
The festival also welcomes headline talent including Rich Myers, founder of UK dessert brand Get Baked, known for the 24-layer chocolate cake Bertha, which he will build live on stage daily. Joining him is Brooke Bellamy, the powerhouse behind Brooki Bakehouse, Australia’s most-followed dessert brand with over four million fans. Brooke brings her business story to Dubai for the first time with a fireside chat and meet-and-greet on 1 December.
Among the festival’s standout moments is the Festival of Cake Bake-Off, powered by Bosch, welcoming bakers of every skill level to compete before an international judging panel and win exclusive prizes.
Across the site, visitors will be able to explore immersive zones including the Chocomelt Garden, Dara’s Ice Cream Sprinkles Pool, the “Real or Cake?” challenge by Sugaholic, Cake Canvas Café, the Sugar Rush Bar and a dedicated Brew Stage featuring Juan Valdez, Lavazza, Miss Matcha and Back to Roots.
The festival brings together more than 25 leading chefs, including Anna Olson, Catherine Zhang, Sarah Alsughayer, Markus Bohr, Claire Clark MBE, Sahar Parham Al Awadhi and Nicolas Lambert, delivering headline demonstrations and expert insights throughout the five days.
Alongside the chef programme, visitors can savour signature creations from Chocomelt, Magnolia Bakery, Sugaholic, Bake My Day, Dara’s Ice Cream, Gossip the Café, Pavlova Café, Miss Matcha and House of Pops, and complete their journey with the Festival’s Cake Passport, featuring four curated bite-sized tastings across the site.

Amna Abulhoul, Executive Creative Director of Entertainment and Experiences at Expo City Dubai, said: “We are thrilled to launch our very own Festival of Cake. This festival is more than a celebration of dessert—it is a tribute to artistry, precision, and beauty. From the careful selection of ingredients to the intricate designs that transform cakes into edible masterpieces, it promises a feast for both the eyes and the palate.”
She added: “As the legacy of a global event, Expo City Dubai’s core programming strategy focuses on creating events and initiatives that transcend borders through a universal language. We aim to create a world where all your senses come alive: music that ignites your soul with Firdaus Orchestra, vibrant colors that fill your eyes with Dhai Dubai Light Art Festival, art that touches your heart in Al Wasl Plaza, and the aroma and taste of freshly baked cakes at Festival of Cake. At Expo City Dubai our mission is to unite global art and culture with events that everyone can enjoy,” Abulhoul enthusiastically shared. “We craft and create experiences that allow people to connect beyond language, culture, and ethnicity.”
“And really, who doesn’t love coffee and cake? For me, whenever I anticipate a tough day ahead, my instinct in the morning is to indulge in a slice of cake layered with rich frosting, paired with a single espresso. It is a small ritual that, without fail, turns the day around,” Abulhoul concluded.
Simon Wright, Founder of TGP International, commented: “As a global 360° hospitality agency, we constantly strive to create new and exciting F&B ventures that lead to unforgettable experiences for our customers. Our partnership with Expo City Dubai has allowed us to take our creativity and offerings to the next level. The Festival of Cake, with its diverse activities and strong international presence, is a testament to this successful collaboration, enabling us to bring a star-studded line-up of chefs and brands to the region.”
