Starwood Hotels & Resorts celebrated iftar with taxi drivers across the Middle East as a part of its seventh annual ‘Iftar for Cabs’.
Staff from 48 hotels across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan distributed iftar packs to taxi drivers at the main entrance of each hotel on Tuesday 21 June.
Commenting on this year’s Iftar for Cabs programme, Sanjeev Gohlan, general manager, Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai, which took part in the event, commented: “This is the seventh year we have held Iftar for Cabs across the region. This initiative was launched as an effort to say thank you to cab drivers who work tirelessly throughout the year to provide transportation services to our guests.
“We are fortunate enough to have a great team working on this initiative and we always have so many volunteers to prepare and hand out Iftar packs, so it’s a pleasure to organise. This initiative truly represents the spirit of Ramadan. It gives us great pride as a company to go the extra step to give back to the communities in which we operate.”
Launched in 2010, the ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative has turned into an annual tradition for many cab drivers throughout the region.
It is also appreciated by hotel owners, local communities and has been awarded by Dubai’s transport authority, RTA.
