Louvre Abu Dhabi will partner with French hospitality company Barrière Group to turn the museum’s restaurant into the first Abu Dhabi-based branch of the company’s well-known brasserie-style restaurant Fouquet’s.
Opening in 2020, the restaurant’s menu will be created in collaboration with renowned French chef Pierre Gagnaire, head chef and owner of a restaurant under his own name, and will include a number of Fouquet’s signature dishes as well as those reflecting the local culture and the tastes of an international clientèle.
“Abu Dhabi is known for its collaborations with some of the world’s premier brands and this prestigious new partnership with Barrière Group is yet another fine example. With the opening of Fouquet’s at Louvre Abu Dhabi next year, the museum continues to bring unique and exceptional experiences to Saadiyat Island. This partnership reflects both the museum’s as well as Abu Dhabi’s commitment to excellence, and demonstrates the impact of our brand through the quality of partners who collaborate with us,” says Manuel Rabaté, director of Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Known for its links to the world of art and culture, Fouquet’s is a high-end brasserie-style restaurant with branches in Paris, Cannes, Toulouse, Marrakech and other international locations, mirroring Louvre Abu Dhabi’s universal spirit. Drawing inspiration from the museum’s artistic atmosphere, Fouquet’s Abu Dhabi will also remain true to the brand’s aesthetic with its unique ambiance and interiors.
Designed by Jean Nouvel, the restaurant area at Louvre Abu Dhabi is made up of modular compartments taking inspiration from Arabic patterns. Nouvel has also designed furniture elements that complement the light-filled interiors and panoramic views of the sea, including bespoke chandeliers, manufactured by Mobilier national, that hang over the six VIP tables.
