Mandarin Oriental has appointed seasoned hotelier, Guenter Gebhard as the new general manager at the Mandarin Oriental Bodrum.
Gebhard joined the hotel group at the start of this year from One & Only Hayman Island, an award-winning Australian resort located on the Great Barrier Reef, bringing with him over twenty years of experience in the global luxury hospitality industry, with previous senior management roles at Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort in Morocco, Atlantis the Palm in Dubai, St. Regis, Bangkok.
Gebhard studied at Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and New York University Stern Business School in New York. A German national, he speaks a variety of European languages and has a good understanding of Arabic.
In his new role, he will spearhead operations at the property which is located on a 60-hectare waterfront site on the northern side of the Turkish peninsula at CennetKoyu (Paradise Bay. The resort is built on a series of levels nestled in the resort’s landscaped hillside, surrounded by ancient olive groves and pine trees, the resort’s 127 rooms and suites provide the largest accommodation in the area, all with sun-decks, terraces or balconies, and many with private gardens and infinity edged pools and 12 restaurants and bars are onsite.
