Millennium & Copthorne, Middle East and Africa has signed a management agreement with Altin Istanbul A.S to operate the group’s first property in Turkey, Millennium Golden Horn Hotel, Istanbul.
The landmark hotel is located in the historic Golden Horn area of Istanbul and signifies the start of a planned strategic expansion across all regions in Turkey for the global hotel operator.
Due to open in 2017, Millennium Golden Horn Hotel is located in the European sector of Istanbul, which was previously an old trading harbour and a popular residential area during the Byzantine period. The property is within the borders of an urban transformation project of Ottoman Ayvansaray, executed by Fatih Municipality, and covering an area of approximately 11,000 m2.
Designed to reflect the traditional architecture of the area the project comprises 125 rooms and will include an international restaurant, bar, two terraces, one ballroom, one meeting room and a wellness area that offers a Turkish hammam, Sauna, a gym and a pool.
Commenting on the group’s entry into Turkey, Francois Kassab, Chief Operating Officer, Millennium & Copthorne MEA said: “This marks a significant milestone in Millennium & Copthorne’s expansion towards 2020.
