Reif Japanese Kushiyaki expands with the opening of their third outlet in Dubai, as the company celebrates its second anniversary this month. The new restaurant is at Dar Wasl Mall opposite chef-owner Reif Othman’s flagship serving an all-day, à la carte lunch and dinner menu, a selection of creative cakes – and from 16th September onwards, introduces breakfast until 3 pm.
“We have opened another outlet in the same mall to accommodate increased demand, whilst also overcoming lack of space due to dining restrictions. We are now able to seat 46 covers indoors across both outlets, whilst we look forward to adding more tables when the weather cools down and the terrace re-opens,” said Reif Othman, chef-owner, Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, who received the UAE’s Golden Visa in June.
Asagohan, the Japanese morning breakfast meal is a new addition, available at both Dar Wasl Mall outlets every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 16th September, running from 8.30 am until 3 pm to meet demand from late risers. The menu (attached) showcases a mix of savoury and sweet Far Eastern-inspired breakfast dishes, alongside European classics – all boasting Reif’s unconventional twist. Some examples include tamago (egg) sando with milk bread and tonkatsu sauce; monkey bread with kaya jam and salted butter; galette with a selection of fillings such as cheese, walnuts and honey; and Reif Benedict with steamed buns, shiso-cured salmon and yuzu kosho hollandaise. All bread and buns are baked daily in-house, with a special kids sando also on offer. Prices range from AED25 to AED70.
Meanwhile, Reif’s trademark desserts including mini versions of the Instagram-famous ‘toilet roll’ lemon and yuzu cake are available all day for dine-in, takeaway and delivery (through Deliveroo).
The interior of the new restaurant follows a similar design ethos to the flagship by interior designer Carolina Rey de Castro, with the use of clean, neutral materials such
as concrete and wood, plus an open kitchen. New statement features have been added, including a cake display; a wooden 3D wall panel with Japanese geisha slippers; cosy corner lounge seating mimics an at-home living room; and custom-made shelves house Reif’s childhood comic Astro Boy alongside his favourite cookbooks.
Additional new openings are scheduled for the first franchised Reif Japanese Kushiyaki restaurant in the world, in Cairo with Baky Hospitality for October 2021. Three new franchised locations have also been signed for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with Majd El Moustaqbal Ltd, due to open next year.
