Mmmbox – Sushi, Asian & Indian offers a very new Pan-Asian restaurant concept, even for Dubai. Delivering small portions in beautiful little boxes, the restaurant – located in Reem Mall – relies heavily on the delivery model.
The menu, quite simply, offers single and triple boxes, and you can order one or two single boxes for AED 21 and a triple box for a discounted price of AED 59. Plus, you can even build your own box from a very funky menu.
We try the red curry chicken with white rice, which is creamy, balanced and authentic. The miso masala fish is salty, so this might be a good option to go for after dessert, a very creative way of cooking the otherwise bland seafood.
As for the sushi, the Dynamite Sushi Roll is fresh and spicy, with fantastic pink tuna and prawn tempura. The Crazy California is packed with crab, with ponzu and tobiko for a tangy twist. The enoki and truffle roll is our favourite, and we would love to see more Japanese restaurants use this ingredient combo.
Mmmbox’s dim sum is from another world. Chicken wontons and chestnuts make up our first, with a garlicky kick for a flavourful boost. Next, the prawn cheung fun is tender and moist. The edamame and truffle version also doesn’t disappoint, it’s earthy, chewy and magnificent.
The lotus cheesecake is delightful, and the portion is perfect for those who want to end the meal on a sweet note, without the commitment of a full-on treat.
Mmmbox is a great option for those who want to try a bit of everything, without the hefty calorie count or portions that would eventually go stale in the fridge. The idea of focusing on a delivery model is brilliant, too, and caters to rising demand for healthy options.
