The eighth edition of the Dubai Drink Technology Expo took place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 16 – 18 May, with 7,000 visitors and participants in attendance.
This year, 100 local and international companies from 25 countries displayed their innovations in the beverage industry and its related services, with the largest participation from China and Turkey, both of which have dedicated pavilions.
Running parallel to the exhibition, the fifth Global Water & Beverage Technology Congress features a number of educational sessions and B2B business meetings discussing the challenges in the water and beverage manufacturing business.
The congress has addressed topics such as managing brands and distributorship, competitive advantages through innovative production technology, innovations in packaging, caps and closures future, global and regional trends in beverages, and more.
His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, who opened the event, commented: “The focus on innovation and smart technologies given across policies and strategies in Dubai and the UAE is a valuable opportunity for every industry sector to grow further and become globally competitive.
“Recent statistics revealed that the soft drinks market in the Middle East & Africa is expected to cross 81.4 billion litres in 2016, of which, 1.9 billion is in the UAE market. Meanwhile, the bottled water sector in the region is also projected to grow to 50.5 billion litres in 2016, of which, the UAE’s share will be 1.2 billion litres.”
